Can OpenClaw post to social media on its own?

Accepted Answer

Not through the networks' APIs. OpenClaw has no publishing rights on Instagram, X or LinkedIn; it needs an MCP server that does, and PosteAhora is that server. You connect Instagram (a professional account — Business or Creator, which Instagram's API requires), X, LinkedIn and the others in PosteAhora once, and OpenClaw publishes through those connections. It never sees the network passwords.

How do I add PosteAhora to OpenClaw?

Run openclaw mcp add posteahora --command npx --arg -y --arg @posteahora/mcp --env POSTEAHORA_API_KEY=pah_live_… on the Gateway host, or write the same entry under mcp.servers in ~/.openclaw/openclaw.json or in the Control UI under Settings → MCP. The Gateway hot-reloads MCP changes, so there is no restart, and openclaw mcp doctor posteahora --probe confirms it answers and lists the tools. Doctor also warns about a key written as a literal: write env as POSTEAHORA_API_KEY: "${POSTEAHORA_API_KEY}" and set the value in the Gateway's environment.

Can I use the hosted connector instead of npx?

Yes. OpenClaw also speaks Streamable HTTP with OAuth: add https://mcp.posteahora.com/mcp with --transport streamable-http --auth oauth, then run openclaw mcp login posteahora to sign in and pick a workspace. Nothing runs on your machine and there is no key to store; the trade-off is that the hosted server cannot read local files, so media goes by public URL or upload link.

Yes: openclaw skills install @sashadiz/posteahora. It works differently from the MCP server — it has the agent install our command-line tool, @posteahora/cli, and run posteahora commands through OpenClaw's shell with the same API key. That covers posting, scheduling, drafts, ideas and analytics. For network-specific options, such as a Pinterest board or TikTok settings, use the MCP server.

Can someone else message my OpenClaw and make it post?

OpenClaw pairs unknown senders on DM channels by default, so a stranger has to be approved before the assistant answers them. On top of that you can narrow what it may do with PosteAhora — for example openclaw mcp tools posteahora --exclude 'publish_post_now,delete_*' — and a scheduled post waits in your PosteAhora queue, where you can edit or delete it before it goes out.

How do I add a photo to a post?

The local server runs on the Gateway host, so upload_media can send a file from that machine's disk. A public URL works anywhere through media_import_url. For a photo you send in chat, OpenClaw needs the file on the host first; if it only has a link, give it the link.
