Can Raycast post to social media on its own?

Accepted Answer

No. Raycast AI can answer, write and run the tools you give it, but it has no publishing rights on any social network. PosteAhora is the MCP server that gives it those: you connect Instagram (a professional account — Business or Creator, which is what Instagram's API requires), X, LinkedIn and the rest in PosteAhora once, and Raycast publishes through those connections. It never sees the networks' passwords, only the tools we expose.

Which Raycast plan do I need?

Raycast's manual lists MCP servers as a Pro feature, because they run through Raycast AI. The plans and what they include are Raycast's to set and change, so check its MCP manual page before you decide. Raycast is billed by Raycast; PosteAhora is billed separately.

How do I use it once it is installed?

Three ways. Installing the server adds an Ask PosteAhora command to Root Search, which opens Quick AI with PosteAhora already mentioned; you can give it a hotkey of its own. In Quick AI or AI Chat, type @ and pick PosteAhora. And an AI Command, a saved prompt with its own hotkey, can include @PosteAhora — for example "turn the selected text into a LinkedIn post". Put your defaults, such as "LinkedIn and X, weekdays at 9:00", in the server's Custom Instructions field and leave them out of every prompt.

Will Raycast publish something I did not approve?

By default Raycast approves read-only tools on its own — reading the queue, analytics, your accounts — and asks you about the rest, so creating or scheduling a post waits for your confirmation. A scheduled post then sits in your PosteAhora queue, where you can edit or delete it before it goes out. Nothing leaves early unless you ask it to publish now.

How do I add an image, and can I run it locally instead?

The HTTP server runs on our side and cannot read your disk, so give it a public URL or upload the file in PosteAhora first. If you would rather attach files by path, Raycast also runs local servers: in Install MCP Server choose Standard Input/Output, set the command to npx with the arguments -y @posteahora/mcp, and add POSTEAHORA_API_KEY with a key from the API page. That local package can upload a file from your Mac. If Raycast cannot find npx — common with nvm — fix your PATH and restart Raycast.

Is it secure?

With Dynamic OAuth you sign in to PosteAhora in the browser and pick the workspace Raycast may use; it never gets your password or the network logins, and it sees only that workspace. If a sign-in does not finish, open Manage MCP Servers, choose Logout on the server, then Sign In again. Prefer a key? Leave OAuth out, add Authorization: Bearer pah_live_… under HTTP Headers, and revoke the key on the API page when you are done.
